Mount Washington
Today we went on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Mount Washington in Bretton Woods. The drive up alone was almost as scenic as the view from the summit.
I think one of my favorite things about being up so high is the quiet. Even with the crowds of people visiting the top, it's always dead-silent.

From my last night with the ladies, giving each other henna tattoos. With finishing up finals and the rush to pack up my room and get to NH, it was a while until I was able to take photos again.
After a long, trying first year at RISD I took two weeks off to spend with this guy. It was well-worth the 4 month wait.

Today Jonathan Bonner's 3D class went on a field trip to the RISD Farm to test out our latest project. The assignment was to create something that can stay in the air on its own for as long as possible. The beach is normally the best place for this due to the wind.
Unfortunately it rained all day and there wasn't much wind. The longest time anything stayed afloat was about 5 seconds. But no one seemed to mind getting off campus for a while.

“And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night. And one by one dropped the revellers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall. And the life of the ebony clock went out with that of the last of the gay. And the flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.”
~ Edgar Allan Poe, The Masque of the Red Death
Our assignment in American Lit was to create a visual based off of the reading, and I illustrated this scene.

Done! My first real animation made with Sketchup and Photoshop. It's a little glitchy/laggy but I'm still happy with the overall result. Now that I have a little practice and know how to avoid certain setbacks I want to animate more with Photoshop in the future.
Song is 'Refur' by Sigur Ros and sound effects were found on freesound.org.

Animation Clip
A segment from my two-minute animation due for design class on Monday.
Animation is hard. I've been working for 4 hours on about 35 seconds of the video. Luckily it's just about finished.

Bubbles!
It's been a while since I've done a project (by that I mean about two weeks. I'm impatient). My friends Leah, Avery and Katy were so nice to get fancied up and model for me despite their busy schedules. There was no deeper meaning in mind when shooting these, just something for fun. I'll get into more conceptual work when I have more time.
One of the only directions I gave them in the beginning was to blow bubbles to their heart's content. They didn't seem to mind. Then we wandered through town and found a secret garden on Brown's campus. I'm still so terrible at running these but they were so lovely and patient with me.
"Psssss pss pssss! I'm telling you a secret!"
Cuties.
